  • I took myself, my camera and my tripod to Grand Avenue last night.

I joined a 'meet-up' group, a number of St. Louis photographers who informally gather to cover a local location.

It's a pleasant group of amiable people, but, as often happens, I found myself wandering away and spending most of time at the viewfinder and little in conversation.

This particular shot is a composite of two long exposure views of the Fox Theatre. A bus passed by during one photograph giving me this gorgeous overlay of streaked light.

In some ways, I felt as if I was on that bus as well as standing by the curbside. Wanting to be both there and leaving at the same time.

Two difficult-to-reconcile instincts, but ones that seem to come alive when I look at the downtown lights.
