  • “Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred
years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've
    got to be kind.”

THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY, AND THANK GOD:

    1) That the wildfire to the West did not head over this way.
    2) For the fact that the shocking Benghazi cover up is coming unraveled.
    3) For friends who know what matters.
    4) For shorter days, longer nights and rain.
    5) For those who seek the truth.
    6) For Oregon Chai concentrate.
    7) For Jimmy Kimmel, who sent researchers out into the streets of Hollywood to interview pedestrians about the last Presidential Debate four hours before the actual event, asking what they thought about it, and discovered that not one of them admitted that they had not seen it. And all of them had an opinion.
    8) For Jonathan Raban’s provocative novel, Surveillance.
    9) For Jari Jarvela’s outstanding contributions to Cowbird, for the warmth of his spirit, and the way he nurtured and encouraged new members. Jari, you are missed already!
    10) For Kathy Turtletaub, who reminded us of the miracle of Space Shuttle Endeavor’s 22 years of safaris into the stratosphere, and the long, slow journey to her new home.
    11) For my friend Barry’s wisdom about the practice of “Speaking the Unspoken.”
    12) For my Muse, who assured me that it is OK to take a few days off from time to time.
    13) And for YOU! Happy weekend, All!
