  • Sitting amid neutral carpets watching as everyone waits for their plane. Some families are conversing in native tongues I neither understand nor recognize. I'm still in the heart of the US, good 'ol corn belt Chicago, but the demographic is no longer known. The debates have been replaying on the airport TVs and while I am used to knowing how the votes will go come election day in my neighborhood, here in limbo the cross section is vague each person seeing the analysis and cheering for their own moments.

As much as I deride the partisanship, I know that I am one as well. My lines don't fit neatly with the current parties, but I am solidly in my own camp and have a hard time compromising. Strong opinions, emotions all rolled up into my carry-on as I move from blue state to blue state but the in between is all up in the air.
