  • It is strange the places and people I find myself these days.

Today I was at a tattoo parlor watching birds flying out of a cage being tattooed on the thighs of a stranger. She had asked if I'd like to be there to photograph this via email. I did. Asking people why they get tattoos is always a good way to collect a story.

In the morning, I heard the story about the man who for five days in a row, put a bullet in the chamber of his revolver, pointed it to his temple and pulled the trigger hoping to die. But he still had some living left to do, a wife to meet and beauty to chase.

Some difficult questions were already asked of the Roman History professor and one of the most beautiful people I know.

There is a lot of wondering and wandering these days.

I purchased a chocolate bar after a conversation about a car with a boy aged three, to share with my lawyer because we were going to go for a stroll in the evening. The stroll took us to a horse stable, the horsetrack, the water park, a Skeleton Park, a cemetery, a Starbucks and finally right back where we started.

Some days this menace hangs over my head and it gets hard to think about one thing without wanting to run. But then I saw this photo of the growing forest and the ensō. The mind needs to be free to let the body create.
