  • Today I had a fright. I fell down the stairs and hit my coccyx so hard that after I stumbled to my bed I couldn't move at all. I lay there for a while, hoping the pain would pass; but it didn't.

It made me think about the trust we put in strangers. When the paramedics came, helped me up and took me to the ambulance, there were moments when my hearing faded and the world went black. At that point, you put your complete trust in those people - people you've only just met - that they will look after you and keep you safe. Sometimes it's hard to trust even those closest to you. But at times you're in need, It's all you can do.

In some moments, everything is out of your control.

    And that's almost comforting.
