  • I think I found lost today

    plucked from the ground

    placed in my pocket

    then homeward bound

I’ve been told to seek it

    advised to acquire

    chided to travel there

    endeavored to go

    tried to save it

    keep safe for later

    for when again

    home would I find

    once I was there

    with time to behold

    the treasure my pocket

    held to inspect

    out of my pocket

    I came to find

    my treasure had spoiled

    like Zu Zu’s petals

    it had been crushed

    never was mine

    not for me to hold

    out there only to find

For all the times I have been told to ‘get lost’, I’ve had a single answer to the assignment of this task; “I have tried, but with no success. No matter how hard I’ve tried, what mode of transportation I’ve used, or how much time I've allotted to the endeavor, I always seem to find my way home. I suspect lost is not mine to get.”
