  • There's a certain sense of disillusionment that follows December.

For just a short season, we face the silence of January with a renewed awareness of time and purpose. We either act on that awareness or fall back into the safety of our vacant existence, watching shadows dancing on the walls of our cave. There is a light right behind every one of us, and our disillusionment stirs some of us deeply enough to imagine the possibility of turning around to the light.

Oh, beautiful, silent, lonely January. I pray that this year I will not be content to live in the shadows.
