  • My son Hakim is co-writing a book for the publishers John Wiley to be published in the new year on the theme of Internet of Things.

The geeks among you can check:

What is a "thing" you ask. I asked. The best answer is to tell you about the "thing" his co-author Adrian McEwen has been commissioned to produce and which I was able to take a pic of when I visited their office in Liverpool. It is a sort of bell which occasionally makes a Ping sound. But it would not qualify as a "thing" if that was all. It is meant to sit on the desk of the Managing Director of a firm dealing in sales of all types, material products, services etc... all this possibly happening a long distance away. Every time a sale happens, a deal is closed, the info is instantly relayed to the "thing" on the boss' desk and a ping informs him of the sale.
