  • Siying is a very special little girl.
She has beautiful black hair that her Mum always puts in bunches.
She has lovely skin, different to a lot of people she knew, because she is Chinese.
She has big dark eyes that take everything in.
But the main thing you need to know about Siying is that she is very shy.

The other thing you need to know about Siying is that
    Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star
    is her favourite song
and she is trying to learn all the words.

One day Siying, her Mum and her Nanna were shopping in town
when they bumped into Elina and her Mum.
Elina is a very polite little girl so she waved to Siying and said
    “BONJOUR!”
    Elina’s Mum is French
so Elina liked to practice speaking French
    whenever she could.

Siying liked Elina very much and thought she was very nice
    but
    because she was so shy
she hid behind her Nanna’s legs
so you could only see her bunches sticking out.

    Siying sang very quietly
    Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.

    Siying’s Mum explained
“Siying is very shy. It’s nice to see you Elina, we’ll see you in Music Group next week.”

The next day Siying and her Mum went swimming.
Siying was wearing her pretty pink swimming costume
and her Mum was helping her swim in the little baby pool.
While they were swimming they bumped into Jacob and his Mum.
Jaocb was a lot smaller than Siying but he smiled and his Mum said
    “NEI HOW!”
Jacob’s Mum had been to China once
and had learnt how to say hello in Chinese
so liked to practice with Siying and her Mum.

Siying like Jacob very much and thought he was a lovely, happy baby
    but
    because she was so shy
    she hid behind her Mum
so you could only see her bunches.

    Siying sang very quietly
    Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star
How I wonder what you are

    Siying’s Mum explained
“Siying is very shy. It is nice to see you Jacob. We’ll see you next week in Music Club.”

The next day Siying and her Mum were having a picnic in the park. Siying was eating some lovely sweet green grapes.
While they were there they met Nathan and his Mum.
Nathan was happy as he had been playing in the park and said
    “BORE DA!”
Nathan’s Mum had just been teaching him some Welsh words
    and he wanted to practice.

Siying liked Nathan very much as he had lovely teeth and a nice smile
    but
    because she was so shy
    she hid behind a tree
and all you could see was her bunches.

    Siying sang very quietly
    Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star
How I wonder what you are
Up above the world so high.

    Siying’s Mum explained
“Siying is very shy. It’s nice to see you Nathan. We’ll see you in Music Group next week.”

The next day Siying and her Mum were in the library choosing some new books.
While they were in there they bumped into Stephanie and her Mum.
    “Hello!”
said Stephanie in a whisper, for she knew she was in a library so tried to be quiet.
Siying liked Stephanie very much as she was pretty and clever
    but
    because she was shy
    she hid behind a bookcase
so you could only see her bunches.

    Siying sang very quietly
    Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star
How I wonder what you are
Up above the world so high
Like a diamond in the sky.

    Siying’s Mum explained
“Siying is very shy. It’s nice to see you Stephanie. We’ll see you in Music Group next week”

It was time for Music Group.
Siying and her Mum were there.
Elina, Jacob, Nathan and Stephanie were all there.
They sang the hello song and then Trish, the music group leader said
“We’ll sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star next”
And then Siying stepped into the middle of the circle and sang,
    loudly and clearly

    Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star
How I wonder what you are
Up above the world so high
Like a diamond in the sky
    Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star
How I wonder what you are.

    Everybody clapped.
Elina, Jacob, Nathan and Stephanie clapped the loudest.
    Trish said
“Wow Siying that was amazing singing! And you are normally so shy. Well done!”

Siying smiled. She would try not be shy ever again.
