  • On the road again
Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is making music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again

    On the road again
Goin' places that I've never been
Seein' things that I may never see again
And I can't wait to get on the road again

    Willie Nelson

    1. even a holiday inn can be ok
if you have a home inside yourself
not the aluminum juice and soda machine
    newspaper racks chronicle examiner
wall street journal new york times
    towels worn thin plastic glasses
    sanitized in saran wrap
    plastic covered take out menus
    front desk mandatory smile
    foam rubber pillows ghosts
    of a thousand strangers
spanish synthetic furniture made of wood
that never held singing birds in its branches
furniture that will not chip scratch stain fade
might not even melt in the apocalypse
as in non-biodegradable this is salinas
but it could be phoenix abilene or mars
all I need is twenty good books hot bath
mozart eagles fleetwood mac crosby stills
nash and young bob dylan james taylor
    traveling willburys, and you, willie
on this here cassette player a pen piece of paper
and anywhere I hang my hat is home

    2. outside around the swimming pool
there’s a lot of plastic grass and it’s coming apart
in the room next door a man and a woman
are making lazy love with long moans
and occasional laughter i hope they know
each other’s names I hope they have a home
somewhere i hope they have kids and a german
shepard named bear I hope they will talk to each other
before they fall asleep about things
that don’t matter very much at all
