  • K. slept at the center of the house in the stove room. Often entering sleep while others sat around eating or talking. His grandchildren grew up in that house and they would come and go. He woke before everyone each morning to light the fire. He could build a house, plough a field by hand and drink two litres of whiskey in one sitting. His laugh was a roar. When he laughed his whole house shook and everyone felt it in their chest.
