  • In Icelandic we have many words for crazy and I’ve heard people use all of them to describe my dad.

    Idolizing my father, I grew up thinking crazy was a compliment. This sometimes got me in trouble; like the time I told a boy I liked I thought he was insane. He got really offended. He couldn't have known I knew no better word to tell him how great I thought he was.

    Today is my father’s birthday. People still call him crazy and I wouldn't want it any other way.
