  • The first six years of my life we lived in a small house across the street from our little church ... and a block or two from the small town center of Lees Summit MO.

When I was seven and the baby brother Jim was turning two - Dad felt his job and family was secure and growing and made the move to purchase a new home - since mom was expecting a new baby in a few months.

Sadly, soon after the house was built and we all moved in - dad became sick and after a few months the word cancer first came into my life.

The work he did as a chemist for a big grain company in the 50's killed him we all know now ... the tests he did with poisons and the dangerous tools he used were risky and deadly in his case.

This last Easter Sunday mom and dad had spent extra money to get us two big girls new outfits to go to church in with mom and the two little ones ... I recall it was to hard for him to dress up and ride in the car - so he had this nice picture taken by mom.

The pictures is small and tattered with age ... and I love it even more for the scares it shows the would we where and always will be Daddy's family.
