  • This is an old building that the Soviet military built as a guard shack. The Taliban used it, I suppose, as there are mines in the area. The US took it over and used it to store bee-hive supplies for local farmers. Inside, I saw several pull out sleeves covered with honeycomb, but no bees. The US is trying to get the local farmers to raise bees for honey instead of poppies for opium. I just thought it was a great picture, stumbling through the rubble, and seeing a sign warning you not only of land mines, but bees as well. Great. So if a swarm of bees come out, I can't just run randomly away through a field. Seems to be the story of my life; I'll get screwed whatever I choose!
