  • This week’s poetry theme on LinkedIn Poetry Challenge is 'Generations'. I was reminded of the Who’s lyrics:
'People try to put us d-down (Talkin' 'bout my generation)',

Tickets for my favourite group The Beatles were too expensive for me but I was lucky to get cheap tickets from my friend's sister, who worked in a theatrical agency, to a Rolling Stones concert.

    The Rolling Stones on stage

    I’m glad I was a teen
    when the Beatles and Stones
    could be seen by screaming
    fans with big eyelashes,
    and micro mini skirts
    The Stones blew me away,
    in close proximity
    I absorbed energy
    From these guys vibrantly
    who lived an altered life.
    encompassing feelings
    quite alien to me.
    They looked in to each
    Other eyes so happy
And I could not grasp the
    dynamic force being
thrown at me. Could I live
    on these heights again;
    after the magic fades.
    back in my room alone?
