  • This is a photo from my 2011 Summer vacation back to Jersey City. My niece, wife, son, and I ventured out to Liberty park. This was the first time in two years I would see my side of the family and before that it was 4 years.

My family and I have a rough relationship. There is a lot of hurt and pain that I just none of us want to deal with and for 10 days I put it all to the side, drove 24 hours with my wife and son from Oklahoma and so that my son can see his Grandmother, Aunt, and Uncle for the first time.

It was hard to put everything aside, it took everything in me to leave the past behind, but as I did it I felt refreshed. During those 10 days of "bitterness freedom," I got to capture moments like this.
