  • The Toda tribes of Nilgiri hills(India) are a pastoral clan whose whole life revolves around the buffalo. Buffalo's milk is considered sacred and used in various ceremonies. They use the buffalo's "Ghee" - a sort of clarified butter derived from Buffalo's milk as a gel to keep their hair stay curled. It is equivalent to the gel the modern teens use on their hair. Emily, and the other European tourists are seen gelling up their hair - the Toda way!
