  • Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build all the bombs
    You that hide behind walls
    You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks.

    You that never done nothin'
    But build to destroy
    You play with my world
    Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
    When the fast bullets fly.

    Bob Dylan, “Masters of War”

I have been wondering for a long time why our once vigorous Anti-War Movement disappeared.

Remember mass demonstrations, candlelight vigils, protest songs, letter writing campaigns?

Remember brave Cindy Sheehan? Remember the parades, the impassioned speeches, the sense of national outrage about the wanton genocide taking place in Afghanistan, Iraq, and then Libya?

Four years ago, America voted for a Presidential candidate who promised to turn things around in terms of the wars being fought in our name all over the planet, in 21 countries right now. What happened to those promises, and why is there no vehement public outcry, as our drones kill from the air in Pakistan and elsewhere?

Is it possible that Obama’s National Defense Authorization Act has just intimidated potential protesters into silence?

Now that a Federal Judge has held the NDAA unconstitutional and issued an injunction against its enforcement, will this bring out a new generation of protesters?

What will it take to bring back widespread protests about how we are rushing from one unfinished war to another, with Iran being next on the program? (It’s about the oil, natural resources, and the pipelines, stupid!)

Finally, last night, Terrorism Expert Craig Hulet provided the best answer I have heard: THERE ARE NO ANTI-WAR PROTESTS RIGHT NOW BECAUSE THERE IS NO DRAFT !!!

“Bring back the draft,” he stated, “And you will see the Anti-War Movement once again in full force.”

    Makes perfect sense to me!
