  • Set on a small knoll in a grassy field, leading from nowhere in particular, and rising to a place of no greater import, no other structures in the field, it was not part of any trail or walk.

The grade of the incline was not extreme, nothing that would hinder walking up to higher ground without it. And for what reason was it there? To rise to another place of no importance in this field?

There were other knolls in the field of more substantial grade, but they didn’t warrant a step to ease their climb. What should make this hill require a stair? Why did others not receive the same attention? Were they not deserving?

An anomaly indeed, perhaps just there to be known, with no other reason for it’s being. So much then like all of us……A kindred stairs, without an apparent reason to be.

What stories would it tell, if only it could only speak?

Whose feet have rested and risen on it’s treads?

What service did it hold?………If only it could speak...existentialism

Perhaps it could teach me about why I myself am here.
