  • Forty-one years ago today about this time I began to birth my first child into this world.

Though labor had been an all-night affair, things began to speed up and become much more intense in all ways!

The doctor said I had dilated from moderate to full dilation in a couple of contractions
My doctor’s voice remained calm and reminding of how to use my self-hypnosis (meditation) skills as I breathed in remembering my mantra…

"With each breath I bring forth a new life focusing only on the process of birthing and using my body as a vehicle quite use to this process versus with fear and rigidity of body…with each breath I relax and trust that my body knows the way to safely bring this child forth."

It worked! Not only did we both survive well, but my personal experience was a spiritual awakening. Not a god awakening, but an awakening to that infinite wonder and mystery of giving life to another human being and with any luck at all continues through our shared lives.

Since that first moment so many years ago, I have been lucky to have had two birthing experiences and a life-long love and admiration for both of my sons.

    I am grateful!
