  • Man needs, for his happiness, not only the
enjoyment of this or that, but hope and
    enterprise and change.

    - Bertrand Russell

    Have you lost hope?

The seductive campaign promise, four years ago, for “hope and change” has left millions feeling angry and disillusioned, utterly without hope, and suffering from the encroaching ravages of economic hell not seen since the Great Depression.

Anyone who does not fess up to this has drunk the Kool Aid.

It is time for some current reality, and an honest appraisal of how far we have fallen, how much of a mess we are in, and how this mess is destroying our lives, our families, our communities, and our country.

So where can we find genuine hope these days, and how can we engage in effective initiatives for healing our country and ourselves?

How can we create a climate of hope within which we will all feel inspired and motivated to transcend the empty promises and the catastrophic failures of our economy and culture and write a new script for our future, and the future of the world?

I believe we have to start with fresh stories, new ways of understanding who we are and why we are here. We need a renewed sense of purpose and mission.

Genuine, not rhetorical hope, resides in vision – a vision of the possible. We need to pour into our souls, and into our culture, positive information which will serve to provide a context for transformation and radical change – real change which brings out the best in each other and the best in humanity worldwide.

There is no magic formula, no quick fix, no drug, no easy way forward. We have to literally reinvent how we see ourselves, and imagine a future that will work.

We need to put our attention on those thinkers, artists, innovators, inventors, scientists, and spiritual leaders who are offering us options to the current doom and gloom, and turn away from false prophets and snake oil salesmen who have sold us down the river to the tune of trillions in debt which it will take hundreds of years to pay off.

From time to time, why not share notes here in our community about information, materials, books, media and resources which will help us change our thinking and consciousness into a positive force for good? Each of us CAN make a difference, and we need to remember this every day.

Need hope? Here is a current offering: Choose Love, Choose Compassion, Choose Life!
