  • "I am leaving Phil. It's over," I said, absently pushing noodles around my plate with my chopsticks. I had met my editor and friend for a business lunch. Keith asked me how things were going - a loaded question.

When I first met Phil I knew then that we would never last. That's exactly what attracted me to him.

"You've been wanting to break it off for awhile," Keith said. "Don't worry, he'll get over it."

"No, he won't. I know he won't. They never do"

Keith laughed, looked at me and said, "Oh, so you're a heart breaker..."

"Well, no," I said. "Ok, maybe I am. But it's not funny. Not funny at all."
