  • An interesting challenge, Jaga. It is a hard thing for us to single out an individual writer from among so many. Yet for me, this is an easy challenge, for my heroine is Diane Jardel.

I first met Diane as a member of my LinkedIn poetry group, The Poet's Haven. Her poetry struck me as deeply personal and deeply human. In addition to her obvious skills as a poet, she possesses a keen insight into the human condition. She is the reason I have come to Cowbird.

Her stories here about events in her early life show us she is a survivor, a fighter, and someone determined to emerge as a contributor to us all. They show us she is a person of Courage.

Her current entries about her new position and challenges will provide a meaningful context to show us how to contribute to make society a better place for the future.

As to her poems, her word choice and talent make them jewels which will shine among the lights which help us to recognize the best in ourselves.

It is literally impossible to pick out a single poem or story, but perhaps today's is as good a place to start as any.
