  • Paulette's story reminded me of a photo. My friend Eli Pritykin took this photo on July 27th, 2007 in the 9th Ward, St. Bernard Parish. Below is the commentary provided by Kenny Tucker:

    Smashed remnants of what used to be a lower 9th Ward house, lifted off its foundations by floodwaters coming through the Industrial Canal levee break in the morning hours of Aug. 29, 2005. The high grass surrounding this tomb of a house is indicative of the surrounding neighborhood (largely abandoned and not re-settled 2 years following Hurricane Katrina).

    The rest of Eli's set can be found here. We met in New York, dancing to the same music that calls New Orleans it's birthplace. He and his brother have move to New Orleans since.
