  • I've been doing this Cowbird thing for just over a month.

    I love it.

I've read literally thousands of stories and found something of value in most of them. Some have touched me deeply.

My own contributions have been all over the place, from whimsical musings to heartfelt confessions. But they all fit together in way that pleases me no end.

I read Alex's long and thoughtful assessment of Cowbird tonight, plus the equally thoughtful responses. My own reply is that I like Cowbird exactly the way it is. I like being "loved" and giving "love". I like joining a lot of audiences because every morning my email box is filled with stories, and I'm going to find myself liking most of them, adoring a few and probably being knocked out by at least one.

I love the format. The single photograph or graphic plus a relatively short story. I love the way it looks on my computer, the way the image rolls around the screen, the font used, the buttons, the breadcrumbs, the simple and limited edit functions - everything is just as I want it to be.

Most of all, Cowbird encourages me to write and to photograph. That is precious.

So, as I said, I love it.
