  • ”I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also who that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8 [KJV]

Graves and headstones are markers for the living. They remind us of those people who have been important in our lives. Funerals are our opportunity to extol the memories and virtues of those who have passed on with others whose lives have been touched, and to bid them farewell on their journey. While all these things are important in the process of grief, they are also a reminder to the living of the work that lies ahead.

Rosemary was, by all accounts given, a remarkable woman. She touched many lives with goodness, kindness, and charity of spirit. And she raised children who carry her spirit forward for all of us to share. If there is such a thing as a perfect legacy, shouldn't it be a legacy of love? Isn't this the legacy that was left to us by Jesus?

There is an old saying that states “We are known by the company we keep.”. Thanks to Rosemary's love and charity, we who share the company of Pete through his stories will be blessed by this same legacy. It is a legacy that will enrich us all. It is truly a legacy of love.
