  • They inspire, anger, influence, love, converse and fight.

You want the people you like, care for, enjoy company of, and love, to be around forever. You should feel that way, as these people inspire, make you laugh, comfort and give your life purpose. Friends are a part of you just as much as your own arm is part of you. Which is why it sucks when they inevitably have to leave.

As a kid I liked to watch a TV show called "Doctor Who". I watched quite a lot of it. I could always relate to the character of the Doctor. The Doctor eventually has to let his closest friends leave and live out their life without him. Which is sad, as goodbyes always are.

I learned that every person has a role in helping you become the "finished version" of yourself. When a friend's role ends, it's sad but necessary. You may see them again and you may not. It doesn't matter, their impact does. It never fails, you make more friends. Not to replace the old ones, for they are completely different and will be remembered. To give us the opportunity to have different and exciting new experiences. These experiences shape ourselves, physically and mentally.

It is important to never forget your past, or your past friends no matter how sad it can be. In the words of the wise Dr.Seuss, "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened".
