  • In the Southern Hemisphere, Spring has arrived!

I can smell Jasmine on the breeze. The sun is warm and friendly. And the days of wearing socks and jumpers and all manner of cover-up clothes is at an end.

If you had've asked me a few months ago what I'd be doing this Spring, I probably would have guessed Same Old, Same Old. Being a stay-at-home mum. Trying to do more freelance Drama teaching stuff. DEFINITELY not going back to teaching in a school.

So I'm back teaching in a school this Spring.

    And it's actually great.

The kids are adorable. Two classes of Grade 8s (12/13 year olds), giving them their first experience of Drama in high school.

And it's reminded me all over again why Drama is SO incredibly important for young people. Telling our own stories and telling the stories of others different from ourselves. Challenging our views about things, broadening perspectives. Embracing chaos at times and revelling in the messy, beautiful, noisy, exciting creative process. Watching children grow in confidence, seeing them become a part of something bigger and greater than just another kid at a desk in a classroom.

It's only a short-term teaching position and after it ends, I'm not quite sure where I'll go next.

But that's all part of the fun!
