  • By saying these words, "I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies-". You are not only making a commitment to the United States of America but to change within yourself. When I took that commitment I swore to swear by these words that I have spoken. It wasn't until after I swore in that I finally realized I was a "future soldier of America". After I sat down and let it sink in I felt overwhelmed by many emotions like excitement, nerves, and then finally pride. It has always been a dream of mine, since I was a little girl growing up, to become a soldier. When asked, "Why the Army?!" I just say, "It's always been a dream of mine." I feel an overwhelmingly sense of pride as I get ready to go to Basic Combat. It makes me feel closer to overcomming my goals in life.

Although most people don't understand the simple dream of one's heart it don't make it any less possible.
