  • My grandmother died from a weak heart 18 years before I was born. She was 57, a farmer all her life, and had been a widow for 14 months when she died. My father was almost 17 when she died, his oldest sibling was almost 40. My grandmother was born in 1905, married in 1921, had nine children from 1922 until 1949 of which my father was second to youngest.

This photograph of my grandmother when she was 14 or 15 turned up randomly in the attic of the daughter of a long dead family friend. It's the first time since I started my research into finding out where my family comes from that something more than a number turned up.
