    Aunt Lasanin (Beatrice Maluda), 26 years old then, told me of the above-mentioned anticipation in a Kadazan village ten miles from Jesselton, North Borneo, in 1959 when news of a Royal Visit spread to them.


    It is now the year 2012, over half a century later, and we are once again anticipating a Royal VIsit in conjunction with the 60 years since the Queen came to the throne on February 6, 1952 when her father, King George VI, died peacefully in his sleep at age 56.

    (formerly Straits Settlements; peninsular Malaya is now West Malaysia and Sarawak with North Borneo,now Sabah, is East Malaysia. The other two countries that emerged from the British Settlements are Singapore and Brunei.)
