  • When she came onstage the randy crowd quieted. They were anticipating something special. And she did not disappoint.

Ravyn Lunatique, (that's her amateur burlesque stage name) asked me to attend the Saturday night show. She's a friend and we support each other in our endeavors. Other performers did their thing onstage. They told lewd jokes, danced suggestively and stripped down to pasties for a bawdy finish.

But Ravyn was different. Her dance was demure and fragile. Like a bird breaking free from its egg, Ravyn stood from her sitting position, revealing her long shapely legs. The music was a sensual undulating beat. She used her black fans to convey the power of flight of a high flying bird. The audience was silent in their awe.

As the music ended, Ravyn gracefully sat down and assumed a peaceful repose.

    Birth, Life and Death.

The crowd cheered. Art takes many forms.
