  • Geoff makes a good point in demonstrating the broken, failed policies of the government over the last two decades. Yes, the government has caused this mess. But you have to ask yourself the real question. WHO is responsible for the government?

WE ARE! We are the people who have abdicated our responsibilities and allowed the two major political parties to be owned by the rich. The election process in this nation had become a 'dog and pony show' put on for the benefit of people who do not research the candidates and who are either content to be led by the nose into the ever widening gap between the haves and have nots, or are too apathetic to care. I have heard the old saw "I don't vote cause my vote won't make a difference." more times than I care to in my life, as I am sure Geoff has as well. But THAT is the problem, Geoff.

The vote IS the answer, but certainly not a vote for either of the owned parties. What we need is a return to a Citizen Government, where men and women are elected to serve, not to serve themselves. What we need is to start paying attention, to start caring about how our vote is used, and most of all, to realize that our vote is the answer to the problem.

My focus was on Psalm 41, and I maintain it makes good sense. Welfare is always attacked as a 'hand out' and a drain on the economy, but if the government was doing its job, it wouldn't be either. Those jobs you are talking about would still be here, because the government should have allowed the economy to regulate itself. Those mortgages that were given to people who could not qualify for them would never have been given if the government hadn't been placed in the hands of unscrupulous and immoral men who took power because we didn't care enough to pay attention to what was going on.

We are responsible for the mess, and we can clean it up, but not with the same thinking that currently pervades our society. It's like any recovery program, you have to admit you have a problem and that you are powerless to change it without help. The problem is US.
