  • Mile 9 is dedicated to Emily from Red Antler, definitely a new friend but again very quick to offer support and not a little incredulity to the whole affair. Turing into Lafayette is great because it’s my neighbourhood. It’s home ground. I know all the shops but the streets are so busy it’s hard to pick anyone out and I am nervous that I wont be able to see Ale on the corner of South Oxford where we had arranged to meet. I ran ahead from the team as I knew I wanted to stop and then saw Ale with our friend Claudio. She gave me a drink - Grape Gatorade with electrolyte powder, pre-mixed as per my quite comprehensive instructions and a banana cut into thirds and wrapped in foil. I say I am going well, give her a quick kiss and then try to catch up with the others.
