    While I was at dinner, Sam called and said her connection through Johannesburg was delayed four hours and she would get in around 10:30. This meant I could sleep in a little and take a metro to Denfert-Rochereau instead of having to get out of bed before 5 and walk twenty minutes to the train station. When I got home, I checked the RER website to find another express train and laid out my clothes.

    In the morning, I woke up and showered. I grabbed the flowers from my desk and hurried out of the apartment.
