  • My feet look awful lately. I can't even remember when I painted them the Springy purple shade that's barely hanging on. I still wear sandals - reminding myself how I usually get so grossed out when its other people showing off their unkept feet.

Its true I've neglected the little piggies. I've let them down. I haven't shown up too well for my fingernails, my gray hair or my exercise schedule either.

But what have I done in the past few months? Today I got Quinton's wish granted for new sneakers. He's 9 years old, and 1 of 6 siblings all with autism in one family. His mother has it too and they are all under the state's care.

Yesterday I collected nearly $3,000 in donations - $500 of which will be used to award an amazing young person, who despite being shuffled from home to home over the past few years, has proven to be an incredible leader, an inspiring, productive, smart individual.

A few weeks ago I gave away over 100 ice cream cones in a very tough neighborhood nearby to celebrate the birth of One Simple Wish four years ago.

A few months ago I started working on a project that will help ease children into foster care by providing basic and not-so-basic needs as they are removed from their homes and placed in the care of strangers.

And in a few weeks I will be in DC to grant a $500 wish to very deserving people who chose adoption as their path to becoming a family.

So my toes look terrible. And they probably will for a long time.
