  • "The "blue hair effect" has been used as a metaphor for social distancing."
I read this on @Helen Crawford's story 'blue hair' and felt compelled to share my old image with you. I have never really understood why I felt so much happier with myself when i looked like this but this sentence really hit home as I was going through a very big stage of wanting social distance, sometimes in a literal way, but more than that, in a distancing myself from being part of human societies principles, beliefs, and discard for other species, each other, the planet, the acceptable life goals and the general point of us all being here.

I spent a lot of years with either a bic bald head, or a mohawk of varying colour and severeness. Blue was always my default. My driving license looks like someone else nowadays and peoples reaction to me is so very different, it never ceases to amaze me how society find pigeon holes and stereo types such an intrinsic part of daily life, and so often they are poorly measured and badly put together.

I'm still not settled on 'an image' and doubt i ever will be, but at the moment I'm a general 'blend in to the crowd' pigeon. There is however, inside me, the blue haired, socially distanced but happy, Square Peg :)

PS Check out Helen's stories, they are very inspiring, and always brilliant :)
