  • Arrangement by Tropical Storm Lee.

Four months after the flood, it's difficult to imagine how Fishing Creek could rise high enough to place whole trees in this arrangement.

In the summer, mallards and white ducks paddle in the stream and purple loosestrife grows on the small but growing islands mid stream. Further upstream, children spend summer days splashing near the bridge. Up even further, Bloomsburg takes its water supply from the creek (leading, during dry spells, to water with the smell of leaf mold).

The creek is usually the town's friend.

When it turns enemy, everyone is startled -- even though it has betrayed the town before.
