  • Dear Kiki,

This is part 3 of my Cowbird letter to you. (Part I is here:!/36682 and part 2 is here:!/36837)

I tried using charcoal in my new California/Malaysia sketchbook. I am inexperienced with charcoal, not very good at it, and I feel like it should have more color--making friends with you and the other folks on Cowbird has been a colorful experience. But you have a good imagination, so I know you will see the colors.

Making friends with you is fun. I am happy to have you has a new friend. You are smart, sensitive, empathetic, thoughtful and a great artist. I love your stories. The black hole is one of my favorites, but they are all good. So many of the cowbird stories are good. Yours are special.

Every day, I learn something new about you. Cowbird is like sitting down for a little chat. I like what I learn. I feel like we could be real friends.

I am sorry about your eyesight--it must be a struggle to do art and see the stories on cowbird. Somehow, in spite of it, you seem to make gorgeous art and thoughtful stories. I want to be like that, too. Not that I want to suffer any more than I already do, but I want, in spite of everything,t o make good art and writing.

Thank you for inviting me to be your friend.

    Love, Mary :-D
