Oh lycra man please hear my plea,
For I am quite concerned you see.
The way you ride, it bothers me
And frustrates too, to some degree.
Don't get me wrong I do not mean
To cause offence or make a scene.
You see I ride a bike myself
So I am worried for your health.
High levels of testosterone,
Machismo too can make you prone
To race around and speed a lot,
But Bradley Wiggins you are not!
Perhaps a spoonful of bromide,
Administered before you ride
Would quell your urge to tear about
Contemptuously as you flout
The regulations of the road
As laid down in The Highway Code,
That set of rules clearly defined
With everyone's safety in mind.
Each day I drive I have a fear
From out of nowhere you'll appear
Across my path when you've no right
Because you jumped a traffic light.
There's drivers with an attitude
Who at each given interlude
Feel it's their sole purpose in life
To cause the cyclist utmost strife.
But surely level headed folk
Can see it's pointless to provoke
Each other daily on the road
To breaking point 'til they explode.
Our London is an ancient place,
Her streets are not for those who race
Cars, lorries, bikes at stupid speeds
Ignoring other peoples needs.
I've no desire to eulogise,
Be wrongly blamed for your demise.
On my conscience I would not like
The death of someone on a bike.
Accord, agreement must be reached
Adhered to vehemently, not breached.
More vital than who's right or wrong
Let's find a way to get along.
