  • NASA seems to have reached its high point so far in social media
when it comes to the Mars Curiosity rover. The rover’s Twitter feed
currently has over 930,000 followers, and its Facebook page has
over 250,000 fans. One of the things that makes these pages so
engaging and popular is that they’re written in the first person.
Curiosity, it turns out, has quite the brassy personality.
She litters her twitter feed with pop culture references,
    tweetspeak, and a bold attitude.

    Allan Knapp, in FORBES

    1. Idea seeds, roots, tendrils, branches...soul-spores blissfully blossoming through cyberspace... etheric media networks of communication and prophecy...our messages curving beyond space-time...manifesting themselves spontaneously on other planets when least expected.

    2. We've all heard about the collective unconscious...we read the novel, saw the play, sang the songs from the musical, cried in the movie, and religiously followed the comic strip. Sing it out now...sing that collective unconsciousness rag. Jung at heart! Forever Jung!

    3. Archetypal images came into vogue in the early sixties and went on to win three academy awards...and all we've learned since then is that you can't escape from a global soul in search of itself. Gods, goddesses, geeks galore!

    4. The collective conscious, however, is another matter...why isn't anyone talking about the telepathic clouds gathering over Eastern Siberia...or about the psychokinetic energy jamming the frequencies of all the ships at sea? Why has it not occurred to anyone that our baby blue planet is at last learning how to talk and is even at this moment gathering a vocabulary of psychic sprouting psychic seed-crystals in every cloud chamber?

    5. Watch now, down the rose-violet canyons of the future, how all our linguistic root systems reach tentatively across the unknown, making connections, curling their tendrils around distant planets, snagging onto stars...and intuitions creep on panther paws into the soft stillness of night to startle our dreams and spin us off into new dimensions of possibility.

    6. For example, two visionary ideas that I planted last week have already burst from their shells and are testing the atmosphere to see if it is tempting to use them in a salad, but I resist, hoping that they will unfurl and burst into mysterious flowers of revelation...down the hall, two goldsmiths are putting the finishing touches on a chalice, a replica of the Holy Grail.

    7. There is always so much that I forget to tell you in these brief moments when our lives intersect.

    8. As the collective conscious gathers momentum, it will enlist the allegiance of prophets, accountants, clowns, scholars, heads of state, and postal workers...healers and captains of industry too will hear the call...random signals will begin to create patterns of meaning, and static gravity will be regarded as an asset...there will be significant increases in the sightings of unidentified flying objects, occasional outbreaks of break dancing and mass hysteria, and epic poems praising light on the water.

    9. It's all adding up to's not too late...the reactor's fuel core will remain stable...we won't need to evacuate...the human race is kicking away against the side of the cosmic egg, ready to be born.

    10. FADE TO CAMERA 6 ON THE CURIOSITY MARS ROVER: Hey! Is that a forest over there? Over there by that lake with real water in it? And those ruins! Wow! Looks like there’s more to Mars than we thought! Wooooooooooeeeeeee! She has her own voice, this one! What will she say?
