the sky is a teenage girl enraged at the world,
and i am stabbed by the weight of all her teardrops colliiding at once.
So I turn my body into a pressure cooker with the lid open, collecting the floods of rain.
i will turn all the sky's misery into a soup kitchen for all the world to drink.

six years old, sitting on the bedside of my parent's king sized bed.
i ask them what "divorce" means.
and in that millisecond of an instant
the curtains of my childhood close
and an audience thunder-claps on a distant hillside far away.

four am in the morning, face down on the studio floor,
arms too heavy to hold a pen, eyes snap shut with the weight of elephants,
but my body was a smile, curved like niagara falls,

i will write the love poem on
the inside of my eyelids instead.
