  • I just returned from Costa Rica where i spent 5 days on a shoot there with my biggest client. After the shoot wrapped i headed to San Jose and stayed for 18 hours, focusing on the sex industry that is fueled largely by tourism and is also legal there. The following is some of what i saw and experienced. As someone who has often struggled with being a good man to women, selfish relationships and also as a father of of two young ladies, this experience meant a lot to me.

Ashley is one of the last workers that i photographed on my brief tour. He is from Colombia, 20 years old, loves butterflies and when i asked him what his favorite thing was he said 'crack, crack y mas crack.' The streets can be brutal but there is surely a transparency there that you don't find in other places. In my dealings there i found myself regretting not taking my studies seriously and becoming more proficient in other languages. There was only so much i could gather from he and some of the other people that i shot there but i think the images tell the story well enough.
