  • I got to fly from Dallas to Philadelphia alongside the Southside Falcons, a football team from East Dallas. About 18 of the 20 or so kids had never flown in an airplane before. Getting to watch and hear their reaction to take off was one of the coolest things ive ever seen. It was like pandemonium... screaming, laughing, jumping up and down in their seats, it was the raddest and livest flight ever. The flight attendant had to come over the intercom 3 times to ask them to keep it down. Just watching them find excitement in something that time and experience might have caused me to feel numb to was the best and opened me back up to an old idea.

My friend Misty got me a card one year for my birthday that had a picture of a child staring at a bird out a foggy window, transfixed. It said 'Show me a day when the world wasn't new.' I have seen many days when the world wasn't new but i know it's really only because i couldn't see. But some days i can.
