  • So, this is where you want your remains to go, eh? This place - at 7450 feet above sea level in the rugged Marble Mountains of California? Holy crap my friend! At almost 50 I struggled to get up here and now you want me to do this after you're gone? Perhaps when I'm a septuagenarian?

At least I have the GPS coordinates and can probably rent a helicopter. That'll be the way it happens.

I remember the hike that took us from Cooke City, Montana back into Yellowstone National Park when I was only twenty years old. The three grizzly bears that we saw earlier on the trail freaked me out, but now are a beautiful memory. The owl that flew down from the rock outcropping, circled us as we watched the sun set and then fly off is something I don't think I can ever forget. Enchanting and beautiful. I understand your love of the wilderness and why you want to go back here. You won't know it of course, so theoretically I could do whatever I'd like with your remains. Theoretically.

But I won't. I will do what you want. The gifts you've given me in this short time on the planet are too numerous to count. The laughter, the challenge, the support and love. I am fortunate, that I know.

We are fortunate to have seen each other through so much.

So, yes, I'll get 'em up here. Somehow. Someday.

    For you.
