  • Being cut off from the rest of the world for the last day or two made sure we did not realize what was happening in town. We almost had 8 inches of rain over the last few days. More than our yearly rainfall. Apparently quite a few rivers were taking away more than just water. I am posting some pics, notice that the bridges are a minimum of 3 – 5 m above the rivers – which normally hardly have any water in! Some serious damage in the form of homes being flooded and yards being washed away. Also an ambulance driver went missing when the vehicle did not make it in the water.

Thankfully we got our water back this afternoon. Wow! Have you ever tried going without a single drop of water in your house for a day?? NOTHING can be done, no tea or coffee, no toilet, no shower, not even wash your face or cook food. Tons of water outside, yet our hands are cut off inside! Appreciate every drop of fresh, running water you have in your house!
For without it, one day, we sure will be a poor world!
