  • I was at the beautiful Chennakesava Temple in Belur one rainy evening.

    Belur was the early capital of the Hoysala empire. The Chennakesava temple is a grand, massive structure and was built by King Vishnuvardhana in commemoration of his victory over the Cholas in 1117 CE. Legend has it that it took 103 years to complete.

    These temple priests walked around the premises all evening, chatting away. They looked so peaceful and calm. Almost as calm as the pools of rainwater that collected around the grounds.
