  • Got a new case for acoustic guitar. Thought I would not take it on the trip. Until fun of playing music with friends last month in Vancouver.

A steel string acoustic; Japanese done up Martin knock off, down to to swirl of Takamine written on tuning head.

Had it since15. When told I was interested in learning guitar, parents were happy to oblige; signed me up for lessons. First one I had was embarrassing- decorated like an American flag red, white, and blue. Deal was if I stuck with weekly lessons for six months, they'd buy me a "real" guitar.

    I did.

    They did.

33 years later, cannot say I've progressed tremendously. Just playing for myself on the deck of my house is all I need. And why not? It goes with me.

    Like D, C, and G.

The audio was a bit I recorded early on for the StoryBox so there would be a sample of music.

I am using Cowbird to share the story of a 15,000 mile road odyssey I took in 2011, which started with me quitting my job in March and setting out in June for a loop around the US and Canada. It's less of a day by day narrative and more of an attempt to tell a story of the story, with some amounts of imagined bits that emerge on looking at the media from the trip, including the more than 1400 images, videos, and audio files collected in my digital time capsule, the Storybox.
