  • When I first moved to Austin, we were searching for some good, cajun food. Our search eventually lead us to Queen Lola.

Lola is unique in many ways. She was born and raised in Lake Charles, La. She often brags about how she is authentic (I can vouch for her too). She has such a huge heart. When she came to Austin, she was homeless for a while. Knowing how tough that situation can be, Lola dedicated her talents to helping the homeless. In her restaurant, you can actually buy a meal for the homeless. While dining there, you can see her dash in and out through the back feeding any hungry homeless person that comes for a meal.

We decided to bring my parents to her place today so they can meet the woman we have been talking about. Here is my dad showing her how he can take a "homeless" stick and give it a home by bringing out the beauty in it. He makes flowers, birds and other things with these sticks. She was amazed.
