  • There is so much truth in this world and for every truth there are falsehoods. So when do you know when you are seeing the truth? My picture is a kernel of corn symbolizing “truth”. I’m using the kernel to illustrate a point to which there can be many variables. If I alter the kernel and “pop” it, it will no longer be a kernel symbolizing truth. It will be popcorn. So the truth is transitory in time and changing from one form to another.

As a kid I would make up truths and swear up and down they were absolute truths. They sounded reasonable, could maybe have been true, but they were little sketchy stories built on facts of my own design that were very conveniently gathered up at a drop of a hat. When I listen to the posturing of the political debates about different truths from different agendas I’m reminded of my own childhood stories and Humpty Dumpty.

I see the world as searching for survival, for common good, for peace and all those ideals that are based on simple truths. The “world” is Humpty Dumpty. Then there are these big truth making machines, whether it is science, scholars, politicians, corporations, religions, theorists, fabricating a tapestry of history that can be pointed to as a reference to real “truth”, or that perceived agreed truth. This is the wall Humpty sits upon.

Old Humpty Dumpy teeters precariously on that 'wall of truth' for the moment it will be decided if something is true or false. All the kings soldiers and all the kings men continually build that wall to divide true from false, without really thinking about how true the agenda is. Greed, power, domination, are used as mortar to set the truths in place. Here and there is a smattering of essential truths to steady the wall, but for the most part, this wall is fabricated of all these little kernels of truths. From where and when you sit upon that wall your balancing act is just as topsy turvy as good old “Humpty Dumpy”. Just as subjective or arbitrary as the juggling of balance in the truth making machine. If you fall, the world will not know if what you believed was true or false, only that you fell. Starting from that point a stronger foundation might be built.

When the truth is uncovered, it’s frayed fabrics unwoven, you may be left with some strange essence that can’t be tampered, changed or manipulated. You might hear it “ringing” in your ears or staring you smack dab in the face. There is no question about truths validity because truth is not owned, manipulated, manufactured or bought, it just is. Some say at times it is better not to know the truth, others say the truth will set you free. Whether of not something is true is often told by historians who are bought by corporations to write history. How this plays out overtime as being historically accurate is another matter. But there is always one saving grace, the truth seekers.
